Legend: “Once upon a time by wandering around the Devil had decided to trick the estate manager of Zasa manor. He had taken a large stone from the River Daugava and had carried it passing by the Menku mill (opposite of Livani) and crossing the Linaite bog. The stone had been large and heavy and his feet had stuck deep in the ground. By throwing the stone in the bog he had split it in two parts. One half of the stone he now carried to Zasa manor. Since he wanted to trick the estate manager, he had tried to throw the stone in the River Dzirnupite with the intention of blocking the river. But the Devil did not manage to throw the heavy stone that far and by getting in the intersection of underwater streams, the stone had fallen down in the place, where it still stands. Nobody knows why, but the Devil had feared to go closer to the river, and this is why he did not throw the heavy stone in the river.” Another legend: “Once the Devil had gotten mad at the miller of Zasa, also the estate manager of Zasa manor, and wished to take revenge. He had decided to block the River Zasa (River Dzirnupite) and to flood everything and everyone. He had carried a large stone from the River Daugava to Zasa. He had been disturbed by a cock crowing in the morning, and he had left the stone behind in its present place, and had disappeared to the hell.”
There are two stones in the park, which are located rather close to each other. There is an opinion that these are two separate parts of a single stone.
