The cup-marked stone, a stone of archaeological significance. Dimensions: length 2.42 m, width 1.90 m, height 0.90 m, circumference 7.35 m, volume 2m3. Gneiss — grey, from the dark materials contains biotite as well as hornblende, the domineering feldspar is orangish orthoclase. The stone surface has heavily eroded. There are cracks parallel to the layers of the stone. The stone lies in its original place.
The cup-marked stone richest in cup marks in Latvia — all together there are 263 cup marks!
It is widely described in various literature sources. Although the cup-marked stone is a protected archaeological monument, it severely lacks protection against various damage risks. The stone is ploughed around without leaving any green belt. Several years ago it was nearly destroyed because the management of the land was taken over by some Danish farmer, who had made workers remove all stones from the fields. A protective enclosure should be made and information signs provided.
