Narrative
Source of healing and sacrificial site used even today by local residents. A coin or old horseshoe nail is to be left in the spring when drawing therapeutic water. Estonia has close to 500 known historical sacred springs. Although water itself was holy for the ancient Estonians, some of the springs were believed to have special powers of healing, prognostication or influencing the weather, fortune-telling or answering prayers. Many sacred springs continue to be used for drawing mineral water.
