7 m long, 5 m wide, 1,5 m high. In the lower part of the stone there is a small natural hole filled with water. Dark grey.
Narrative
The stone has been used for healing and sacrifices. It is believed that “mualja/moalja” in the Muhu language is a contraction of the word maahaldjas (rural spirit). In Estonian folk religion, some diseases come from the earth or from earth spirits. Thus Moaljakivi is a stone where such diseases can be returned to earth. There are tens of Moaljakivi stones in Muhu. Old metal objects were typically used for healing purposes (especially worn horseshoes and nails). After the metal object is pressed to the afflicted area, it is laid on the stone. The disease is transferred to someone else when the object is touched.
