Description
Very small and humble tributary of the upper reaches of the River Iecava, and the name of the river (‘Small Holy River’) draws attention by the researchers. There are no cult sites on its banks that would be known. Maybe the river itself was deemed holy, but maybe it was a boundary river. The small river is hard to be examined, because it flows through marshy areas and it has poorly accessible banks.
Narrative
Only the name of the river, which allows relating the river with ancient sites, but it shall yet be clarified.
Attraction
Slightly visible from Vecumnieki – Nereta road. Otherwise – rather hard to access.
Availability
Well seen in a small area, but should one wish to see the whole river, this could turn into an extreme adventure providing minor benefit.
Infrastructure, management, facilities
No tourism infrastructure in direct vicinity. Nearest town is Skaistkalne; remarkable sightseeing objects: Skaistkalne Roma Catholic Church – first church in Latvia built in early Italian baroque style; Skaistkalne church crypt; Skaistkalne Manor bui
