The site of the church is not far from the brink of a large quarry, on a side of a forest road and on a longish hill covered with mixed tree forest. The hill is 3 – 4 m high to the road level; 1 – 2 m below the hill surface a steeper or uncultivated piece of land can be noticed. On the opposite side the hill is about a metre high and it gradually merges with the former field. In the centre of the hill there is a 5 x 8 m big and 0.5 – 1 m high stone layer made of various stones. In the centre of the layer there is a hole. Next to this layer there is a smaller one. In the NW part of the hill in about 30 m from the previously indicated layer there is still other stone layer visible. None of the stone layers resembles foundations of a building, i.e., a church. The length of the hill is around 40 m, its width is about 15 – 20 m, it is oriented in the NW – SE direction, symbolic oak-trees grow on both of the ends. There are individual stones on the slopes and in the closest vicinity of the hill. The site of the Vaukši Church is connected with the legends about an ancient church which could be true and affirm a site of a medieval chapel. In the surroundings there are other archeologically significant sites.
The Vaukši Church site can be accessed by car by driving through a large, various excavation period quarry which has now partly overgrown. There are no signs about Vaukši Church site either further, or in the closer vicinity which in this case is good for protecting the ancient site against the vandalism of treasury seekers.
